Wow. As each story ended, I found myself hestitating to go to the next. I was so immersed in the telling of the tale and the perfect endings. I thought the next one couldn't be as good as the one I just finished and I wanted to savor the story for a bit longer. Boy, was I wrong! Each story wove an enduring tale of beautiful places, family connections, deep emotions and personal challenges. I hadn't read any stories with the element of time travel and was a bit skeptical, but Ms Purrington creates a believable series of events that keeps you wanting more :). Loved. Every. One.! This is a wonderful series with a setting in both Scotland and America. The author has given us beautiful descriptions of the country side and the people of Scotland. I can picture through her writing style the ancient stories of a people who are warriors, simple country folk and the ruling clan leaders in her epic tale of this wonderful country. As a person who has a small bit of Scottish heritage myself, I wonder how the people with their strong ethnic history could have been engulfed by the English.
This is a box set of four stories by Sky Purington. I very much enjoyed the stories my only complaint is that I wished that events surrounding Adlin and Mildred were written differently. You would need to read book one of the Maclomain Early Years to understand but I felt that their story changed to drastically in compared to the other happy endings. The same goes for Isobel, Adlin's sister, both of these characters received an uncharacteristic ending. The author did make up for this in the epilogue of the last book but again I am a sucker for a happy ending. With that being said I understand why it was written as such because otherwise Ferchar and Caitlain would not have had their story in the third book. There were many surprises in the book and I thoroughly enjoyed how the author weaved the time travel and mystical elements. Overall a well written series which I am sad to see end.

After reading Calum's Curse and the MacLomain Early Years I just had to know more!! I wasn't disappointed. Again there was enough historical information to make it interesting but not so much that a reader like myself who doesn't usually read historical romance would get bored. The characters were wonderful and I loved the way they all interconnected from series to series and across generations.
I was really disappointed when I finished that the Next generation was not available yet, but Today the first book is out, so I'm off to find out what happens next.
I love how this was a box set. I wish more were because I have a tendency to just see a story and start reading without knowing if it is part of a series. Once I realize it is a series I have 2 choices; Stop Reading & start the 1st book or continue reading and decide if I want to know the history (I am sure we all have experienced that). This did not give me that options AND I AM GLAD I read it from the beginning. It was necessary. So, the story(s) were FABULOUS!The plot was fun, exciting, riveting, transfixing you at every stage. I love when an author can eloquently write time travel without making it seem ridiculous. Lots of friends revolt anything that seems implausible but this is one time travel series that even the most cynic of my friends could accept. I love that I went on this journey with the characters and could emotionally feel for them & with them. I cannae express how it makes me desire me own personal 'ilandar for meself.
I aboslutely loved these stories the time travel aspects was wonderfull And i really likes how its took not only moderns back in time but historical characters as well fallowing one family threw the ages as it twists and turns rewroiting history in some cases or nearly so I really want to get the rest of the books in this series and the companion series to find out what happens to every one else I highly recomened these books and love the Rich ness of the detail and the history involved and how the stories themselves interlock Five stars
The magical connection between two families creates the time travel and Scottish history with love as the underlying theme in each of these four books. What I enjoyed about this series is how you can focus on a different set of Scottish men and women and not lose the lives of the ones from the previous book. Each book continues the saga and envelopes the MacLomains of ancient Scotland with the women of different time periods living in the same home............fascinating. in fact so fascinating I had to buy and read about the children of these romantic marriages and it is equally entertaining. If you love a good romance and time travel to Scotland you will love Sky Purington's wonderful creations in each of these books. Easy read leaving you with a smile on your face. Enjoy
